Businessware Technologies providing Enterprise Linux based fax solutions. Nowadays, though Internet covers widely the mail functions, most of the companies still prefer the fax solution for their easy way of document transmission. Fax is still the easiest way to send just about any material, from freestyle handwritten notes to printed and illustrated data sheets. As a result, practically every business, large or small, makes extensive use of faxes.
By Linux based Fax solutions you save lot of Management, administrative and end user benefits. The closest that the technology has come to this is through a fax server. In this scenario you send off a document directly from your computer to a fax server.
The fax server receives the document, formats it, and dials out to a remote fax number for transmission. Fax servers can also receive documents, attaching incoming faxes to e-mail messages and directing them to appropriate mailboxes. User can also send faxes directly from there PC.

Workflow
The software is designed around client-server architecture. Fax modems reside on a single machine on a network and clients can submit an outbound job from any other machine on the network. HylaFAX can receive outgoing faxes from a number of different computers and users. This saves time, as there is no more waiting at the fax machine while a fax completes. The server uses Sendmail to deliver fax delivery confirmation and error messages as emails to the sender. The client software is lightweight and easy to port. All the faxes received are stored as 'tiff' files on the server. An email notification is end to the designated fax administrator as an email. Apart from all the information such as the sender information, date and time of receipt and number of pages, the email will have a document link pointing to the location of the fax. The fax can be viewed using any industry standard 'tiff' viewer by clicking on the document link. This email can be forwarded to any other person in the network, who will be able to view and take action on the received faxes. The fax need not be physically attached to the email, thus preventing the creation of multiple copies of the document.Once viewed the faxes can be printed, saved locally for future or forwarded to somebody else. The server maintenance utility (cron) can be programmed to delete the faxes at a convenient interval or move them into an archive folder, so that the server does not get clogged with fax documents. The server is designed to be very robust, reliable and to guard against unexpected failures. It can support multiple modems and a heavy traffic load. HylaFAX can be configured to give descriptive reports of all faxes and/or summaries of fax logs for any period of time.
